ISSUE
- Cannot read barcode
- The scanner is activated, but no data comes to the host device
APPLIES TO
PM5
Troubleshooting Steps
Check the PM5's status indication (LED and beep sequence) when you tried to read the barcode.
Status Indication | Cause | Solution | ||
---|---|---|---|---|
Beep | LED | |||
1 | Twice (Short medium → High) | Red flash | Decoding failed | Aim the barcode correctly When the scanner failed to read the barcode, the beep rings twice (Short medium → High) and LED flashes red. Aim the barcode referring to the below instruction and try again. |
2 | Three times (3x Short low) | Red | Decoding Success, but Bluetooth is not connected | Connect the PM5 with a host device This indicates the scanner succeeds in reading the barcode but is connected nowhere with Bluetooth. If the scanner is not connected, connect it by Tap-to-Pair or Scan-to-Pair, or Settings. Bluetooth Disconnection
The connection may be lost if the host device and PM5 are about 10m or more apart.
If the host device is turned off or PM5 reboots accidentally (Battery discharges, etc.), the device and scanner will be disconnected.
Turning off the Bluetooth feature will disconnect the connection between the host device and scanner. |
3 | Once (Short high) | Green flash | Decoding success | Reset PM5 You didn’t get the scan data even though reading the barcode is successful, perform reset the PM5 and try again. Refer to PM5 Reset for more detail. |
