ISSUE

  • Cannot turn on the RFID reader even though pressed the power button.

APPLIES TO

Point Mobile RFID readers

  • RF851, RF300, RF750, RF900

RESOLUTION

If you cannot turn on the reader even though you pressed the power button, check the LED indicator when you try to turn on the device.

Symptom 1.

No LED lights

Cause: Not enough battery

Solution: Charge the reader

If the LED doesn't light, it indicates the battery is too low to turn on the reader. Charge it using the power adapter or charging cradle first.

Symptom 2.

Blinking Green & Red alternatively (Charging LED)

Cause: Battery fault

Solution:

If the charging LED is blinking green and red when you connect the reader to charger, it indicates the reader could not recognize the battery. To solve this state, follow the steps below. When each step does not work, move on to the next step.

  1. Reinstall battery
    1. Remove the battery and install it again.

  2. Change battery
    1. Charge the battery to a new one, and try again.
    2. If the reader can be turned on after battery replacement, the battery may have a problem with the connector or others.

  3. Request the repair
    1. If you cannot boot the RFID reader even though you tried the A and B steps, there might be a problem with the connector of your reader. In this case, request the repair to Point Mobile repair center.
