There are 4 ways to apply the EmKiosk configuration to your device.
- Using PMDM
- Using QR Code
- Using EmKioskConfig (Direct Clone)
- Using JSON file directly (Offline)
Choose a suitable way for your working environment.
Using PMDM
If you have credential for PMDM, Point Mobile device management solution, use this method.
The benefits of this method,
- Easy to deploy the configurations to the devices enrolled in the PMDM server
- Centralized and consistent management
- Suitable when you want a mass deployment
How to
Create a profile using PMDM > Profiles > Kiosk.
(Refer to PMDM Guide - Kiosk (Profile))
Save the profile.
Send the profile to the devices.
- through Smart Group: Associating Profiles
- Individual sending: Sending a Profile / Sending a JSON Profile
Using QR Code
If you created a profile as JSON file, using QR code is most suitable way to apply the profile.
The benefits of this method,
- Easy to deploy the configurations to any devices
- Suitable when you want a mass deployment
How to
Create a profile using Scan2Stage.
(Refer to Scan2Stage Guide - Kiosk)
Save the profile in JSON format.
Go to QR Code generation screen by Generating QR Code button on the top-right side of the console.
Enter the information for QR code provisioning, and click QR Code Generation.
Launch Scan2Set on the device.
Scan the QR Code, and wait until the provisioning is done.
Using EmKioskConfig
If you can gather the devices to be applied the configuration in one space, you can use EmKioskConfig.
The benefits of this method,
- Easy to use with intuitive UI which similar interface with actual EmKiosk screen
- Suitable when the devices to be set can be gathered in one space
How to
Download and install EmKioskConfig.
(You can download from Service Portal. Account is required.)
Launch EmKioskConfig, and configure EmKiosk configurations.
Save the configurations.
Launch Direct Clone from EmKit, and create a backup file including EmKiosk app.
Open Direct Clone server using the backup file.
On client devices (receive the kiosk configurations), launch Direct Clone and enter receiver mode.
When the client device receive the backup file, the restoration will be completed automatically.
Without Wi-Fi (Configure in Offline)
If the network does not available in your working environment, use this method.
You need to install the EmKiosk app and transfer the JSON file manually, but you can apply the EmKiosk offline.
The benefits of this method,
- It is not affected by network speed, etc.
- Only EmKiosk configuration is applied
How to
The JSON file name and location are important in this method.
And a USB cable for MTP connection is required as some manual installation and file transfer is required.
After configuring the EmKiosk using Scan2Stage, save it as a JSON file.
The filename must be 'EmKiosk.json' (case-insensitive).
Connect your device with PC, and copy the below items.
- EmKiosk apk file (for installation)
- 'EmKiosk.json' file
Location of JSON file
EmKiosk.json file must be located in the root directory of your device.
Install the EmKiosk using EmKiosk apk file you copied.
Run EmKiosk on your device from App drawer or EmKit, and check if the EmKiosk configuration is properly applied.
