APPLIES TO

Point Mobile Android devices (Android 6 and above)

Cause: Battery Optimization for Apps

While the device is in Doze mode (Sleep mode), apps' access to certain battery-intensive resources may be restricted to reduce battery consumption.

For example, the following situations can occur.

  • If the device enters sleep mode during download a file through Wi-Fi, the download stops.
  • If the device enters sleep mode, an app receiving GPS data periodically cannot get the GPS data.

Resolution: Do Not Optimize Battery Usage for Apps

If you want to allow the app to keep using a sensor or internal component or other resources in sleep mode, you should set the app to not optimize the battery usage.

You can set the optimization using Settings app or provisioning profile (made by PMDM or Scan2Stage). Refer to Battery Usage Optimization (Preview).

Note

Note that the article 'Battery Usage Optimization' focuses on OPTIMIZING battery usage.

To DO NOT OPTIMIZE the battery usage, you should select 'Don't optimize' (for Settings app) or add the package in Disabled Packages (Not Optimized) list (for PMDM).
